& Finlay, trading as Rossmore Furniture, have built a reputation as one
of Irelands leading manufacturers of dining room, living room and bedroom furniture.
Despite intense competition from manufacturers in low cost economies, Rossmore
still has a strong manufacturing base in the shadow of St Macartan’s Cathedral
on the outskirts of Monaghan Town.
There is a unique history of collaboration behind the Rossmore brand. In the
1970’s McNally & Finlay teamed up with another local company, Sherry
Brothers of Scotstown, and under the guidance of renowned furniture designer,
Arthur Edwards, the partnership gradually developed the brand name Rossmore
into what it is today.
Collections are available in retail stockists throughout Ireland and the UK.
In an effort to maintain quality and continuity of supply the firm maintain
a mix of both outsourcing and in house manufacturing. “It’s about
finding a level that you can compete on and yet maintain quality and reliability.”
says Managing Director Dermot McNally.
Most consumers will identify the company as the manufacturers of fine traditional
collections, most notably Mahogany, Teak and Cherry but styles and trends move
and change and the firm has broadened its appeal. New ranges have sleek lines
and minimalist designs, appealing more to a new generation. Oak, maple, walnut
and beech have all been cast in new collections.
